February 11, 2013
Glenwood Elementary School
Prior to Special Town Meeting
6:30 pm
Present: Leroy C. Clark, Chairman; Michael S. Pantos, Clerk; Joseph R. Becker; Sheila H. Dibb and Nancy M. Macaruso, Secretary. Peter J. Letsky was absent.
Selectmen reviewed the articles and motions for the special town meeting scheduled for 7 pm this evening.
Superintendent Gary Kellaher informed the Board that he has rejected all bids pertaining to the fuel management system. New bid numbers may be ready for a meeting February 25th and if not, for March 4th – the Superintendent will keep the Board informed.
Selectmen’s meeting scheduled for February 19th may be rescheduled due to lack of quorum.
Fire Chief Weber informed the Board that the blizzard preparations and operations went extremely well. The chief made a preliminary announcement that he received notification that they will be receiving at $249,000 grant. He will make a formal announcement with all parties involved at an upcoming Selectmen’s meeting. Congressman McGovern will make a presentation at the Fire Station at 9 am next Friday and invited the Board to attend.
Mr. Becker thanked Emergency Management Director Joe Cavan for the great job he did coordinating the storm efforts for this past weekend’s blizzard. Mr. Becker needs clarification on the director’s appointment. Mr. Cavan was appointed to fill the position only until a new fire chief was hired – Chief Weber explained the need to have someone other than the fire chief in that role; that way he can concentrate his efforts elsewhere during an emergency. Some discussion; the Board will take it under advisement.
ADJOURN:
Mr. Pantos moved to adjourn. Ms. Dibb seconded. Vote unanimous. Meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy M. Macaruso, Secretary
Board of Selectmen
