Board of Selectmen

6:30 p.m.
Present: Sheila H. Dibb – Chairman, Joseph R. Becker – Vice Chairman, Leroy C. Clark, Michael S. Pantos – Clerk, Nancy M. Macaruso – Secretary. Cherilyn A. Bulger arrived at 6:40 p.m.
Others present from the Assessor’s office: Howard B. Root, Alyce Johns and Robert Asaro.
Chairman Dibb opened the Tax Classification Hearing at 6:35 pm. Administrative Assessor Alyce Johns handed each selectman a packet and gave a brief explanation. There is some new growth in town. Ms. Johns recommended a single tax rate of $14.14 per thousand which is up $1.22 from last year. Some discussion. On average, home values have decreased. Homes valued over $400,000 have dropped less. Mrs. Dibb closed the hearing. Mr. Becker moved to accept the recommendation of the Board of Assessors to set a single tax rate. Mr. Clark seconded. Vote unanimous. The Board signed the Assessor’s paperwork. Mr. Becker left the meeting at 6:50 p.m.
Mr. Pantos moved to go into Executive Session for Reason #3 (To discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the public body and the chair so declares.) and to return to regular session for adjournment. Mr. Clark seconded. Bulger aye, Clark aye, Pantos aye, Dibb aye.
Adjourn: Ms. Bulger moved to adjourn. Mr. Clark seconded. Vote unanimous. Meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
