Minutes of the Board of Assessors' Meeting held on February 3, 2015 in the Assessors' Office located
in the Town Hall.
Members Present: Arthur Lincoln (Chair), Jeffrey Gibbs (Member), Diane Peterson (Regional Assessor,
RRG) and Justine Lapierre (Assessors' Clerk)
Board Members Absent: Joyce McGuinness (Member),
Meeting brought to order at 8:40 a.m.
The following documents were signed:
• Meeting Minutes from January 6, 2014
• 2014-7 Motor Vehicle Commitment & Warrant
• 2015-1 Motor Vehicle Commitment & Warrant
• Motor Vehicle Abatements for the month of January
• Real Estate and Personal Property abatements: 2015003, 2015005, 2015006, 2015009, 2015010,
2015011, 2015012, and 2015015
The following discussions took place:
• New legislation was recently passed to allow veterans who are 100% disabled but who do not
have a Disabled Veterans license plate to have one of their vehicles be fully exempt from excise
tax. The Assessors' Office will be sending letters to the 100% disabled veterans in town that
they are aware of to let them know of this new law.
• The Devereux Foundation asked the BOA to grant them an extension on filing their 3ABC
charitable tax exemption paperwork

• Diane began to discuss Income and Expense statements for mixed use properties. There is a
clause that states if a taxpayer does not return the form, a fee will be assessed. The BOA would
like to place this wording on the cover letter that is mailed with the form and see what type of
return they get. If there is still a low return rate, the BOA may have to re-discuss if they would
like to actually collect a fee.
The next Board of Assessors Meeting is to be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. in the
Assessors' Office located in the Town Hall.
The Meeting was adjourned at 9:25 a.m.
