	Town of Princeton, MA Meeting Minutes Thomas Prince Middle School Enrollment Study Committee February 3, 2011 Town Hall Annex Members present were Toryn Bright, Laura Gal, Larry Greene, Matt Lindberg, Larry Pistrang, and Carla Volturo. Dawn Sulmasy was absent. Also present was Town Administrator John Lebeaux. Chairman Pistrang called the meeting to order at 7:34 PM. Acceptance of Minutes The Committee unanimously voted to approve the minutes of January 11, 2011. Discuss Survey Results Larry P. reported that there were 341 responses (246 on-line, 69 paper copies returned at school, and 26 paper copies returned at all other locations). Larry also presented a document titled, Appendix A-Survey Results that contained a mathematical breakdown and comments. The Committee was pleased with the high rate of participation and that most response patterns were similar regardless of the means residents submitted their surveys. Discuss Final Report Framework The Committee referred to a document prepared by Larry P. titled Report to Princeton Select Board Outline. The Committee agreed that in-district choice should be clearly set forth as a potential option for future action. The Committee also discussed the value of asking a third-party who had no involvement with the Committee’s work to review the draft for a general proofreading but more importantly to make sure it is clear and unambiguous. Preparation for meeting with TPS Principal Mary Cringan The Committee identified the following as items it wishes to discuss with Mary: Are there presently empty classrooms? If so, how many? What are Mary’s thoughts about a themed/magnet approach? Logistics of busing students from other district towns What steps are presently being taken or are planned in anticipation of enrollment decline? What are reasonable numbers for viable classroom sizes? For what grades is there comfort with having only one section per grade? Public Comment None. Future Meeting Dates The Committee will next meet February 8 and 15 at 7 PM, and March 15 at 730 PM in the Town Hall Annex. The Committee unanimously voted to adjourn at 8:44 PM.
