Minutes: Open space Committee: Sept 15, 2014

- Discussed the link from Westminster Rd through Wachusett Mountain (Dickens Trail to Midstate to Administration Road across grassy, filled in road, down North, cross Balance Rock, down Midstate to Wachusett parking lot, up next to Magic Carpet, Dunbrow half way, then to Redemption Rock). No feedback yet from Dwayne Erickson or Denise Morrisey from last month’s proposal.
- One concern is the mountain down road from top of Harrington down to North Road. Issue is that we go against traffic. Kelton will follow up with Dwayne and Denise
- Karen will talk to Larry Dubois re land between Redemption Rock and Mountain Rd.
- Thompson to Rhodes: All via Krashes property. Kelton has forwarded our map to Stephanie Krashes for review by DCR. Kelton will contact Stephanie to see if we can get approval to lay the trail down.
- Rhodes to Dickens: Two options:
- First see if Audubon to allow bike/horses in back of property. Stress collaborative nature, community project. Stress the point that this is a multi-use project for the town. Low usage. This is not The destination, it is just a conduit through the property. But there are concerns about precedence setting.
- Second to see if land can be re-designated to PLT or Open Space to avoid conflict with Audubon core conservation policy.
Deb will work on the Rhodes to Dickens link.
Kelton will contact Todd Masterman re the small trail through the North end of Todd’s property.
- E. Princeton to Krashes: Kathy Sweeny spoke to Jaye Fitzgerald re NORCO Club. Would like to meet with Executive Committee. Biggest concern is around Safety. Need to clearly communicate the types of use. Bring maps etc. If Exec Committee agrees then full membership is likely to go along.
- Also need to go back to Clayton and Nancy Mosher. Karen will bring John Stimpson into this and work with Sue Cranford to set up a meeting. Kim Houde will talk to the Hayes, as the Mosher road passes through Hayes property before getting to Norco.
- Rick will explore former Morgan property (now DCR) east of Worcester Road as a possible alternate route of bypassing Nimrod.
- Kathy will coordinate a walk from LSF to Krashes. Several members would like to join this walk.
