Open Space Committee meeting minutes July 21, 2015
Meeting began at 7:36 p.m.

Trail Around Princeton (TAP) update: Kelton would like to see one section, From Old Colony Road (at the bridge over the East Branch of the Ware River), along Thompson Road to the Leominster State Forest completed sometime this fall. This will be a trial opening of the section, meaning that we can get a sense of how well it and the subsequent ones will work based on this experience. Any adjustments can be made once we have information about its actual usage. We received and reviewed the excellent document for the Thompson Road to Rhodes Road section of our TAP that Rick prepared.
DCR trail grant update: Kathy Sweeney will head that up. Karen may be able to help.
Deb brought copies of the Princeton Open Space and Recreation Plan 2014 with pertinent sections tabulated and highlighted for everyone!
Tom Sullivan provided documents regarding the Smith property. These included a map of the area with regards to Protected Open Space Context, Prime Farmland Soils involved (which is important for an APR), the letter of support for submitting a grant application from the Princeton Select Board to Melissa Cryan of the Massachusetts Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, the Project Description for the grant proposal, and a seven-year action plan for Princeton from the Open Space and Rec Plan. The Princeton Land Trust is submitting the grant proposal.
The next meeting will be on the third Tuesday in August, August 18th at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex. Some key people would not be available on the second Tuesday, our normally scheduled occurrence.
