Open Space Committee meeting minutes        Tuesday, November 25, 2014
Present: Kelton, Phil, Karen
Excused: Jim, Kim, Deb
(Since Karen is an alternate we had 3 out of really 5 members so we consider that a quorum.)
Guests: Sue Cranford, Wally Whitney, and Rick Gardner
Resume discussion and plans for the Trail Around Princeton (TAP). To reiterate, the seven “dots” to connect are: Four Corners, Mt. Wachusett, Leominster State Forest, Krashes Field, Thomas Prince School, Red Fox Farm, Boylston Park (and then back to Four Corners). The letters below indicate connections different sub-committees are developing.
  • From Leominster State Forest (really from the Quik Stop on Main Street) to Krashes Field – assigned to Jim from NEMBA
  • From Krashes Field to Thomas Prince School – assigned to Deb Cary and Kim Houde
  • From Thomas Prince School to Red Fox Farm – assigned to Wally Whitney and Rick Gardner
  • From Red Fox Farm to Boylston Park – assigned to Ed Sweeney and Tom Sullivan (unbeknownst to them, as they were not present)
  • And from Boylston Park back to Four Corners – assigned to Leslie Regh
Rick Gardner and Wally Whitney have made great progress and gave their report. Rick mapped out the trails using a great new free app for Androids called Viewranger GPS. There are nice nature trails around Thomas Prince School and once you cross Coal Kiln Road there is DCR land that needs some cutting back but definitely a trail and there’s a new little bridge over a wetland. Wally spoke with the president of the Nimrod Gun Club and Deb also reached out to them. Further conversations will take place regarding possible use of their outstanding land which affords several really nice trails. Wally and Rick will schedule a meeting with Nimrod representatives and at least one of the OSC members who were present at our meeting that they attended over a year ago.

Meeting adjourned 8:17 p.m.
