Open Space Committee Meeting Minutes October 8th, 2013
Present: Kelton Burbank, Doug Williams, Jim Samdahl, Deb Cary, Karen Rossow
Excused: Phil Gryzb, Kim Houde
Meeting began at 7:36 pm
Bridge erosion issue: resolved per Kelton.
Smith farm: Special guest Tom Sullivan gave us the status of negotiations. The Princeton Land Trust and Charlie Wyman of Mass Audubon had a sub-appraisal done and determined a financial value on the Smith property. They approached the Smiths with the figure that they came up with and were willing to pay for the land. (This would involve a collective effort from many sources to achieve.) The Smiths did not agree with the figure so the PLT will continue to communicate with them now that they are formally involved as an interested party. This was done prior to October 1st, the deadline for applications for a major grant.
Open Space & Rec Plan Update: No news since one month ago. Karen will follow up with Marie Auger and John Lebeaux.
Trails: Trail sub-committee B (Visionaries for connecting existing trails via new, strategically placed trails; Kelton, Kim and Phil) has mapped out the main trail areas and where new trails should go. Will work on details next. Trail sub-committee A (documenting all existing trails; Deb, Jim, Doug, Karen) has nothing to show for themselves yet but will next month for sure.
