12/16/2010
Minutes of the Princeton Historical Commission
December 16, 2010
7 PM, Town Hall Annex

Attendees: Phyllis Booth, Sheila Dubman, Alex Fiandaca and Joe Lee.

Demolition Delay

Members summarized the proposed demolition delay bylaw for Phyllis and provided some information from MHC.  Alex and Sheila will provide additional information from MHC to Phyllis by email.  Members briefly discussed 96 Ball Hill Road and 52 Redemption Rock Trail North as potential demolitions.  (96 Ball Hill is the former schoolhouse that has been abandoned and 52 Redemption Rock Trail North is for sale and its real estate advertisement makes reference to demolition.)
Sheila has offered to take the lead in presenting the proposed bylaw to the Selectmen at their meeting on December 20.

Four Corners and Wachusett Meadow

Sheila relayed information obtained by Joyce earlier today:  MHC has offered to pay for the Wachusett Meadow portion of the nomination ($2,200).  Betsey Friedburg has indicated that the funding will go directly to Ann Forbes for her fee and will not involve a grant on the part of the Commission.
Joyce contacted Ann Forbes to relay the above information and discuss the Four Corners portion of the nomination ($4,000).  Ann indicated that she is ready to begin work on Four Corners in the spring of 2011 and agreed to bill the Commission for the initial $1,400 by June 30.
Member voted to have Sheila draft a formal agreement with Ann to write the nomination for both Four Corners and Wachusett Meadow.

House Plaques

Sheila indicated that the new owner of 133 Beaman Road would like a house plaque.  Most of the deed research for this house was completed when news of a potential buyers' plan to demolish the building surfaced. Alex will complete the research and follow up with the plaque request.

PMLD

Jon Fitch sent the Commission a letter explaining a fiber optic project involving Mass Tech Collaborative that will enable the town to provide better broadband service.  The project will involve the installation of a fiber network backbone that will run above or below existing telephone cables and will be federally funded.  Member voted to approve the information Jon sent and voted to thank him for considering the Commission.

Stone Walls

Edie Morgan would like to address the Commission regarding the protection of stone walls in town.  Sheila will invite Edie to attend the Commission's next meeting on January 20, 2011.  Alex suggested members become familiar with scenic roads bylaw information in preparation for that discussion, as it is the only legislation that protects stone walls.  Alex will provide some information by email.

Upcoming Meetings:
