Four Corners and Wachusett Meadow
Members met with Betsy Friedburg of MHC last Wednesday, November 3rd for a walk/drive of Wachusett Meadow and Four Corners. Two residents (the Haines') attended the meeting that followed and Deb Carey attended on Audubon's behalf.
Joyce reported that there has been no news since the meeting, and relayed her impression of Audubon's position. It seems Audubon has concerns about MHC weighing in on state or federal funded projects which they may choose to pursue. Also, the idea of pursuing an MHC preservation grant in which their project must meet MHC guidelines also seems to be a deterrent. Despite this, Deb Carey has said that she will send a letter to Audubon expressing her comfort with the prospect of National Register listing and will copy Joyce.
House Card File
Members discussed Bud Brooks' concern about home owner privacy/security. Members discussed the various ways in which homeowner information is already accessible (registry of deeds, town hall street list) and agreed that since the internet offers a much greater ease of access for people who may not have the most honorable intentions, the house card file should be set up in a way that does not reveal the current resident/owner. Members agreed that the house card file, as it appears on the Historical Society website, should not include the current owner and should include a disclaimer to that effect. Joyce will relay this decision to Bud.
Budget
Sheila presented the PHC budget ($4,479) and the cost of writing the Four Corners' nomination ($4,000). An additional $2,500 is needed to include Wachusett Meadow.
Demolition Delay Bylaw
Members continued drafting the demolition delay bylaw. Sheila will incorporate tonight's changes and send new version to members in advance of our next meeting.
