Facilities Steering Committee Phase II Minutes 1/16/2019
Facilities Steering Committee, Phase II
Town of Princeton, MA
meeting minutes for 1/16/19
7pm at town hall annex

Attending for the committee: Richard Chase, Rick McCowen, Dennis Moore, Larry Todd

Richard opened the meeting at 7:00 pm.

The minutes of 1/9/19  were approved as written.

Richard reported Nina made two minor changes to the JWA proposal. The committee voted to approve the proposal as revised and recommend to Nina the town accept and fund it.

Rick made up a one page summary of the OSHA information from John Bennett. The committee voted to communicate this to the community as with previous Q&A sheets.

The committee discussed a write-up from John Bennett dated Dec 20 entitled “So what does Princeton fire department do anyway ????” The committee thinks this is good information to put in the hands of the voters and the fire chief should circulate it before the town meeting.

There was brief discussion of the summary report for the town annual reports from 2009 to 2017 showing the activity of the police and fire departments.

There was discussion of the comments from the Environmental Action Committee (EAC); the committee will pass on a copy to JWA for them to consider.

Rick has been in contact with a broker in Williamstown, MA, regarding the private construction of facilities to be leased for public use. A representative from the broker will attend our next meeting on Wednesday, January 23, to present information and answer questions. The FSC will invite other people to attend, including Karen Cruise, Nina Nazarian, a member of the advisory committee and others we think should be informed.

There was review of the financial reports showing the town debt schedule for the next 10 years and a review of the tax impact on property owners of borrowing $5 million or 7$ million for the public safety project. The committee agreed it must show numbers it can explain.

The committee has lost a member, Noelani Chase, and needs to find a new person to replace her. The FSC will have a member at the volunteer fair to be held on February 2.

The committee will continue to work on more Q&A topics.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:48 pm.           Submitted by Larry Todd, clerk
