Richard Chase opened the meeting at 7:00 pm.
The minutes of 11/13 were approved.
Richard reported on the visit with Dennis to JWA. He handed around a cost sheet for review. The component labelled project cost of $1.35 million seems high. We need to look at greater detail and see what can be cut.
JWA is preparing a proposal that we should have in one week. It will be an add-on to their previous contract. We have asked for a clearly described minimal building, with an option incorporating part of the existing building.
Richard is checking with Nina regarding the available budget for continued JWA work.
There were suggestions that the design incorporate the maximum insulation and the roof should be able to support a possible future solar installation.
Could we get by with no holding cell for the police ?
There was continued discussion of design build projects. The Morton Building sales rep is willing to come to our meeting next week to present information and answer questions.
Rick has been in touch with the town of Wilton, NY, regarding their public safety building. The cost data shows a cost of $300 per square foot. He will get more detail from them.
Ed Cichon attended the meeting and provided some written comments and questions. These were discussed and the committee will take them under advisement.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.
