The minutes of the 12/5 meeting were approved

Jones Whitsett Architects (JWA) was represented by Kristian Whitsett and Helen Fantini.

Helen began their presentation with reference to their meeting with Nina and the police and fire chiefs on 12/12 to discuss their needs; JWA is still reviewing the information they were given in the meeting.

Helen showed slides detailing Bagg Hall alternatives and approximate costs:

Option 1  small addition including an elevator; no specific community space $4.1 mil

Option 2 medium addition with COA on second floor, larger open space on 1st floor $5.1 mil

Option 3 larger addition, COA on 1st floor  $5.6 mil

The costs were broken down to some component levels.

Kristian reviewed the options for a public safety building.

He showed similar buildings in other towns including Sunderland and Hadley, showing costs and also use of shared space between police and fire.

The Princeton center site; costs based on 16,000 sq ft:

Option 1  keep front of old school and build addition  $9.1 mil

Option 2  all new building  $9 mil

There was a review of possible phasing of the work needed by the town:

Long version:  shore up Bagg Hall and build public safety

Pause
Bagg Hall addition
Pause
New community center on site of annex

Medium version: shore up Bagg Hall and build public safety

        Pause
        Medium addition to Bagg Hall

Short version: build public safety and larger addition to Bagg Hall

There was discussion of the specifics of the Bagg Hall envelope work to get better cost estimates.

Steve made a suggestion we renovate the annex for use as a community center to take the pressure off an addition to Bagg Hall. Discussion

There was a question on the impact on meeting space.

We need to have more detail on the design for public safety.

The next meeting is scheduled for 1/2/18, 7pm in the annex.

The committee will discuss marketing and how we can present the options

We need to have an updated map of Princeton showing town owned land, DCR land, and other categories of ownership.

We need to find ways to update town departments, including the library, to get their input and keep them informed.

The next meeting with JWA will be on 1/9/18 and we will meeting jointly with the advisory board on 1/16/18.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50
