Meeting minutes for 12/5/17

Attending for the town: Edith Morgan, BOS and Judy Dino, advisory committee.
Karen opened the meeting at 7:03 pm
The minutes of the 11/28 meeting were approved
Jones Whitsett Architects (JWA) submitted an invoice for $30,000. The committee voted to pay this invoice, based on the work already performed.
JWA has a meeting on 12/14 with Nina and the police and fire chiefs to review their requests for the scope of a new facility. After discussion, Karen offered to attend this meeting representing the committee.
Karen mentioned there is an ad hoc committee formed to review financial options for the town; she is a member of this group.
There was continued discussion of the options for public safety; there was agreement that police and fire are effective promoters for town needs.
How do we get to a dollar amount we think the town can handle ? We think JWA should help us with this.
There was agreement that the concept of moving public safety seems to be the best option for their needs.
Discussion of Bagg Hall and possible uses other than town government. There don’t seem to be any other obvious uses.
Regardless of other options we present to the town, the envelope of Bagg Hall needs to be preserved, including the problem with the NW corner of the building. Other options include:
Rework the building interior and open the 2nd floor to use
Add a small addition.
We need to meet with the community before town meeting to review the options; there was some discussion of how other town projects got done in the past.
Karen will e-mail JWA regarding the sequence the committee thinks is important at this time:
Stabilize Bagg Hall envelope
Relocate public safety
Then what ?
The meeting was opened to public comment at 8:32; there being none the meeting was adjourned.
Our next meeting will be on 12/19, 5:30 pm in the annex, with JWA
