Facilities Steering Committee Minutes 11/14/2017
Facilities Steering Committee
Meeting minutes for 11/14/17
5:30 pm at town hall annex

Attending for the committee: Chris Conway, Karen Cruise, Steve Mirick, Larry Todd, Mary Jo Wojtusik

Attending for the town:  Edith Morgan, BOS and Judy Dino, advisory committee.

Attend for Jones Whitsett Architects(JW): Margo Jones, Kristian Whitsett and Helen Fantini

Karen opened the meeting at 5:30 pm

JW introduced their powerpoint presentation and told us it is only a draft showing the work they have done so far and some of their observations.

They were most recently in Princeton on November 7, 8 and 9 gathering more information.

Kristian led off with a review of the four buildings.

Bagg Hall: may need sprinklers if there is a major renovation. Their consulting engineer said the settling of the NW corner of the building was caused by water, is still an active problem and can be resolved. Other concerns noted.

Town Hall Annex: Observations on building conditions and issues. JW noted that a remote programmable thermostat may help to control and save on heating.

Police and Fire: Observations on building and issues.

Princeton Center building: ditto. JW noted that since the building is unoccupied it would be prudent to have the heating system on/off cycle timed to be as long as possible to reduce stress on the boiler.

Helen talked about the programming; size of space and the activity in it. Storage space and meeting space are important elements of their review. She handed out a sheet  detailing information collected about each town department and board.

JW still needs to do a review of current activity of some departments.

The next steps JW outlined include a formal report on existing conditions, confirm their programming findings, develop a proposed space program, confirm priorities and prepare design options.

There was additional discussion with the facilities steering committee and a brief review of town owned land.

There were 7 or 8 members of the public in attendance for this meeting.

The next meeting will be a further review with Jones Whitsett Architects on Tuesday, November 28, 5:30 pm in the annex.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 pm.
