Princeton Cultural Council meeting minutes January 9, 2013

Meeting began at 7 :05 in the Town Hall Annex
We are reconvening because Karen erred in thinking that unspent funds can be carried over to the next fiscal year. The guidelines prohibit deliberately doing this.
We spent 50 minutes deliberating whether or not to increase funding beyond the requested amount for the approved applications. We approved increasing Amazing Animals for the Princeton Public Library by $65 to fully fund the event. We also approved setting aside 5% for administrative purposes, which should put us in good shape for many years in that respect.
Karen had reached out to the Parks and Recreation Department to see if they would be willing to sponsor the music band that didn’t have a sponsor but didn’t receive a response. We decided that, while we don’t want to appear unappreciative of the state funding, we could not in good conscience fund poor applications or just increase the funding for its own sake.
We also briefly discussed the possibility of submitting our own grant for a big theatre arts event next year. Also, if there is a mechanism whereby we could contribute to events such as the concerts at Tower Hill Botanical Garden in a manner which would directly benefit residents we would be interested in that. Karen will discuss with our contact at MCC, Annie Houston.
