Regular Meeting  October 12, 2016

9 AM   Opened meeting with Bev Kohlstrom, Jane Fife, Terry Thompson, Bill Andrysick and T.A. Nina Nazarian. Nancy Wheeler not present.

Rev. Linda Michel arrived at 9:09 AM. Bill Andrysick mentioned that he did not get his newsletter on time and that the label was cut off somehow.

The CoA voted 4-0-0 on a motion by Bev, second by Bill to approve July and September minutes. The May, June, and August minutes were taken by Nancy Wheeler.

Nina provided an update with regard to the CoA director position. Lengthy discussion. The group agreed that they would like to move forward with bringing on a CoA Director as soon as possible.

Bev reported that the Bingo and Bites was not as successful as was thought to be.

Event planned for Oct. 27 at noon, Halloween Party with prizes for costumes, in the P.C. gym. Nina to pick up the following items sandwich platter (with ID markers) from Hannaford, hot and cold cider, cinnamon stick water, block of cheddar, and potato salad; Jane F. to provide apple pie or squares. Green salad from Terry; Bill and Bev to provide donated prizes. Nina to get heavy duty chinet plates and individual creamers from BJ’s. Ask Marie, Linda, and Terry to be judges on best dressed. Bev to pick up potato chips and sugar. Nina to pick up large non-latex gloves.

Veteran’s Event on November 9th, noon and Ms. Michelle Jones will bring apple pie. The CoA board decided to serve lunch at the event, based on feedback from the Bingo & Bites event. The Board will serve soup (two kinds, pumpkin soup by Bev and either chicken noodle or clam chowder from BJ’s by Nina and NN to also pick up sour cream).

Rev. Michel mentioned that the Church is beginning to hold series’ on matters regarding “end of life” preparations. On October 18th at 7 PM, the First Congregational Church is having an event. Next event to be daytime in November.

For thanksgiving the First Congregational Church collects grocery gift cards (Big Y is the preference), interested to find out if there are folks in town that need help.

December 8th at noon at Harrington Farm, CoA to take names. Nina to ask Marie and Linda to take names. Town Hall to prepare a sign-up sheet in exercise room.

CoA Christmas Party on December 14th at noon, with turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, etc. Board to solidify the menu next meeting.

Board members took a walk outside to discuss the planting location for the Yoshino flowering cherry tree as memorial for Sue Shanahan. Met with Bob Mason and confirmed the location.
