Town of Princeton, Mass. – June 12, 2017
Executive Session Minutes  -  BOARD OF SELECTMEN

8:45 PM Selectmen voted in open session and opened executive session under Exemption 3: negotiations.

Selectmen reviewed the draft police union contract as discussed at previous meetings. Nina had approached the union negotiations with the assistance of the police chief and George Handy from the Advisory Committee.
Rich had some spreadsheet data showing actual increases in police union compensation encompassing salaries including OT, benefits etc., over several years, comparing this with the Consumer Price Index (CPI), and the police raises were almost 50 percent higher. Group noted that kind of increase was not sustainable, but the current proposed contract was accepted as a response to the fact that the union had rescinded their raises in FY’10 & FY’11.
Edith moved and Rich seconded the motion, to ratify the police contract with limitations as written, for a 3/3/3% (three percent per year raise for each of three years). In roll call vote, Edith voted “aye,” Rich voted “aye” and Jon voted “aye.”

8:55 PM  Selectmen closed the executive session with Jon F. making a motion to adjourn, Edith M. seconded and in roll call vote they adjourned with Jon, Edith and Rich each saying “aye.”

Respectfully submitted, Marie Auger, admin. assist.
