BOARD OF SELECTMEN – Regular Mtg. Minutes
6:30 PM
Edie called the meeting to order in the Thomas Prince School Gymnasium. Present were Chairman Edith Morgan, Stan Moss & Jon Fudeman, also T.A. Nina Nazarian. The Board voted 3-0 on a motion made by Edie, second by Jon to elect Stan Moss as the Chair of the Board of Selectmen. Edie turned the meeting over to Stan. Stan thanked Edie for her work over the course of the last year as the Chair. Stan asked the Board if they wished to elect a Clerk. Jon volunteered to serve as the Clerk of the Board of Selectmen and the Board voted 3-0 on a motion made by Stan, second by Edie to elect Jon as the Clerk.
Nina called attention to the correspondence which the Board had seen via email regarding disagreement of legality regarding the Wachusett Regional School District’s (WRSD) budget. Joe Scanlon had called earlier in the day indicating that under M.G.L. c. 71 § 34, it was the
District’s Counsel’s opinion that the Town could not vote a lesser amount than what the WRSD Committee had proposed to member Town’s. Nina shared correspondence from Town Counsel that she disagreed.
Stan mentioned to the Board that he is interested to move Article 23 (use of Infrastructure Stabilization to purchase 10+/- acres of land a the Fieldstone Farm for future governmental use) ahead of schedule, directly after Article 11, so that it is before Article 12, which is to add funds into stabilization.
6:47 PM The Board voted 3-0 on a motion by Stan, second by Edie, to take a short recess until Town Meeting began.
