DAM COMMITTEE MEETING
10/27/2010

The meeting was called to order at 6:00pm by Chairman Michael S Chammings. Present were Michael S Chammings, Larry Moreau, Hal Ferguson and Pete Laverdiere. There were about eight Thompson Lake residents from various towns, and Ross Cudlityz PE.

Town Managers update:  Dam expenses covered by Town of Oxford are available for copies or viewing at the Oxford Town Office- Ask for Becky.

Clearing of Dam grates due to heavy leaf drop Michael S Chammings introduced Ross Cudlitz PE from the Oxford County Soil and Water District. Ross gave an overview of the Diver’s Down Company’s Dam Video. Hole at the base of the Grate Pillars which also holds up the “Cat Walk”; steel beam not on Pillar and the hole under the frame is 2’X8’ large and  ? deep. The dam structure looks good.  We need to attach a steel plate to cover an old diverter channel into the mill building.

Grates are putting pressure on the “Cat Walk”.  Danger level of Pillar failure is a good question, no one can say how long the pillar will last, but with the new boom logs there will be less pressure on the cat walk.

Center and western pillars are undermined. Question is do we just remove trash rack system or remove and replace?  Question is do we need the bottom flow middle gate (now inoperable) or just change it to a top draw?

Larry Moreau made a motion to plug penstock hole into mill building; which was seconded by Hal Ferguson. Passed 4-0.

Next meeting will be November 24, 2010 at 6:00pm.

Meeting adjourned at 6:57pm

Respectfully submitted,

Pete Laverdiere
