Atty. Richard Serkey presented the petition to erect for no more than 18 months at a height of less than 200 ft a temporary wind tower – location is between Agawam and Fawn Pond Roads, near the river run TRVD – near proposed wastewater treatment facility – funding by EOEA grant partially – data public information – Planning Board, Airport, Energy, Cedarville steering committee – all supportive – airport would like a light at the top of the met tower –
Steven Weir, Weston and Sampson, temporary tower designed to collect wind speed data on three different locations on the tower – showed a similar installation in Worcester – very little equipment to install – supported by guy wires? – anchors set into the ground depending on type of soil – no longer than 18 months – typically a year’s data – data relayed by small control box every day – tower is 8 – 10 in diameter – clearing of trees may be necessary
David Peck asked about the circle that shows on the plan –
Steven Weir the circle is the diameter of the fall zone for the tower
David Peck a future tower would need a bigger circle?
Richard Serkey a permanent turbine may be located in a different area – this is to gather data
David Peck is the light battery operated or powered
Steven Weir battery operated
Michael Main asked if the airport sent anything
Richard Serkey the documentation has not been received

IN OPPOSITION
Nancy Candelora – less than 200’ from property line – destruction of property value and quality of life – lights, etc will disturb – site already cleared and laid out – house between 300/500 ft from the tower
Steven Weir modern wind turbine not as dangerous as has been publicized – wouldn’t put in a location that is dangerous – designed to operate safely – ice throw is a thing of the past – lighting is quite low – existing towers are safe
Richard Serkey concerns focus on the effects of a wind turbine – this is a met tower – would have to come back for the turbines and locations –
