List and maps of streets proposed for acceptance
Sid Kashi, presented the following streets proposed for acceptance by the Town under Article 39 for Spring Town Meeting:
Admiral Byrd Road Admiral Halsey Road Admiral Rickover Road
Anchor Drive Constitution Drive Haven Road
Independence Street Unity Circle Juniper Street
Spruce Street Victory Lane Bonney Briar Drive
Kennedy Parkway Truman Avenue Hoover Street
Eisenhower Way Johnson Lane Fitzgerald Avenue
Beacon Street Birchwood Avenue Hughes Street
Filmore Street Santo Street East Russell Mills Road
Armstrong Road Ext. Commerce Way
The total length of streets to be accepted is slightly below 6 miles. The Town will be receiving $5000 per mile (approximately $30,000) from the State under Chapter 90 funding for these roads which is in addition to the $1.1 million already received. The Chapter 90 funds are used for treatment of existing roads which includes crack sealing, chip sealing, and pavement preservation. Acceptance of the streets allows the Town to expend public funds for maintenance, repair, and paving. Public funds cannot be used on unaccepted private roads. The Town will continue to plow private roads.
Tim Grandy stated that the Road Advisory Committee supports this proposal.
