Board of Selectmen Minutes 09/05/2007
MINUTES OF SELECTMEN’S MEETING
SEPT 5,  2007

1. The meeting was called to order by Mark at 7:00pm. Tom and Hal were present.
        
2. On a motion by Mark, 2nd by Hal, ALL voted to accept the minutes from August 15th's. meeting as read.

3. On a motion by Tom, 2nd by Mark, ALL voted to sign Warrant #4 to pay the towns bills.

4. Rick Micklon asked if handrails would be replaced on the front steps that are within code
also would the ramp be sealed? Tom stated that both are in the schedule to be done.

5. Beth Damon Chair of the Ordinance committee reported that they are working with CEO on the
road setback. The Conservation Committee is working on identifying the issues that the people
need to be educated about.

6. Hal reported on Parkway he said the survey is complete and Ross Cudlitz will be sending out
bids to individual that he knows is capable to do this project.

7. Jared Damon asked if the town had a policy for putting jobs out to bid.  How was the ramp put out?
Tom said he asked contractors in Otisfield if they wanted to bid. I would have liked to bid on those jobs.
Who did the ramp? Tom said some one he knew from Buckfield, I called him and asked if he wanted to bid,
to come get the specs.  He received 3 bids that were accepted. The board stated that they have had a policy
that anything over $5000, we need 3 bids. But maybe we need a written policy; we shall contact MMA for sample policies.

8. Jamie Alberi, president of the OVFFA, asked if the board would waive the renting of a port-a-potty
for the Harvest dance this year.  The cost is high for one night especially since they did not budget for this.
The board said ok for 07 dance, and you better watch that you do not run out of water. Jamie said they spoke
with Tony Jordan and he will help them.

9. 7:45pm motion by Mark, 2nd by Hal all in favor of moving into executive session pursuant to Title1 M.R.S.A.
section 405(6)(F) for a consultation with legal counsel.
8:55pm motion by Tom, 2nd by Mark all voted to close executive session.

10. The town received dividends from MMA property and casualty $619, workers comp $604.
unemployment $1321.00 for 2007.

11. The board accepted a letter of resignation from Barbara Dunham as recreation director
effective 9/28/07. Ads will be placed and applications will be accepted until 5pm on Oct. 10th with
interviews scheduled for that night beginning at 8pm.

12. The Town received a thank you letter from Seeds of Peace director Leslie
Adelson for being so supportive of the camp.

13. Motion to adjourn by Tom, 2nd by Mark, ALL at 10:10pm.
