MINUTES OF SELECTMEN’S MEETING
MARCH 7, 2007
1. The meeting was called to order by Mark at 7:00pm. Hal was present.
2. On a motion by Mark, 2nd by Hal, ALL voted to accept the minutes from Feb.21, meeting as read.
3. On a motion by Hal, 2nd by Mark, ALL voted to sign Warrant #16 to pay the towns bills.
4. Rick Micklon presented to the board Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law for Mr. Grasso U7/019B. Board is to review and bring back the penalty.
5. Mike Hooker said that there had been damage at the Spurrs Station by whoever plowed. Walk in door jam, lights for sign post, and snow pushed up onto leach field. The Board will speak with Richard and they will get prices for repairs.
6. The town will advertise tax acquired property for sale 1 A lot on Rt 121 next to Spurrs Corner Fire House. Minimum bid $3000, right to accept or reject any and all bids. Bid due by 5pm on 4/18/07, to be opened at 8:15pm meeting that night.
7. The board has sent a letter to the Town of Poland requesting they rethink supporting TLEA's YCC program. Copies were sent to the towns of Oxford, Casco and TLEA.
8. The Board tabled the discussion on the need for a conservation committee until all 3 board members are present. Tom was sick this evening. A number of residents were present to tell the board why they feel the Town needs a conservation committee. The board asked them to leave a copy of their written comments for them to review before their next meeting.
9. Charles Grasso was present to speak to the board about the penalty they may levy upon him for building with out a permit and within the shoreland zone. He said he was unaware of the need for a building permit and once he found out he stopped work and preceded working with the planning board. He said that he is retired and on a fixed income and if they could reduce that the amount suggested by the planning board, he would greatly appreciate this.
10. On a motion by Mark, 2nd by Hal all voted to grant abatement to Verrill Group Inc. Pension Trust R13/004 TG. Land value was corrected to reflect land that CMP has been granted and easement to. Abated 42,160 land value = $442.68.
11. VA has expanded the VA exemption period for federally recognized war periods.
12. 8pm motion to move into executive session by Mark 2nd by Hal pursuant to 1 M.S.R.A. section 405(6)(f) for a consultation with legal council regarding tax acquired property. Motion to close executive session at 8:25pm by Hal, 2nd by Mark, All.
13.Motion to adjourn by Mark, 2nd by Hal, ALL at 8:35pm.
