Minutes of the Board of Finance meeting held on Monday, May 20, 2013, following the 7:30 p.m. Annual Budget Meeting at the Lyme Old Lyme Middle School Auditorium, Old Lyme, CT

Mr. Russell called the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m.~

Setting of the Mill Rate

Mr. Russell stated that the new mill rate will be 19.30% for FY2013-2014, up .21% from 19.26.

A motion was made by Mr. Woolley, seconded by Mr. Devoe and passed unanimously to approve the new mill rate of 19.3%.   Motion carried.


Minutes of Meeting of April 22, 2013

The minutes of Meeting of April 22nd were reviewed.  There was one correction noted, therefore, a motion was made by Mrs. Sturges, seconded by Mr. Kerr and passed unanimously to approve the minutes as corrected.  Mr. Devoe abstained as he was not present.  Motion carried.


Review of Monthly Financial Reports

Mrs. Stajduhar highlighted the April 2013 Financial Report notes for the Revenues stating the total tax collections for property tax were $210,512 and current levy is at 99.72% collected.  Year to date revenues left to be collected is 1.79% or $584,960.

Mrs. Stajduhar detailed the April 2013 Financial Report notes for the Expenditures and highlights include:  Selectman’s Office – Legal is $25,000 for a potential legal settlement.  Emergency Management – storm Sandy spent $9,692 for brush grinding, for a total of $161,696.  The OLFD – Fire Fighter spent $25,425 for ten complete sets of turn out gear.  Under Public Safety – Emergency Service Retirement spent $4,375 for annual work done by Jack Kneale’s office.




Mr. Russell stated that the next Board of Finance meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Hall.


A motion was then made by Mrs. Sturges, seconded by Mr. Devoe  and passed unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 p.m.
