Minutes of the meeting of
THE OLD LYME TREE COMMISSION
November 18, 2010

Attendance:

Regular members present: Joanne DiCamillo, Emily Griswold, Gerry Foster, Anne Bing

Alternate members present: Joan Flynn, Pat Moll

Members absent: Tom Degnan

Chairman Joanne DiCamillo called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM since there was a quorum present.

REPORTS:

Clerk’s Report
The minutes of the 10/21/10 meeting were reviewed.

MOTION:
Gerry Foster moved to accept the minutes as presented. Joan Flynn seconded the motion which passed unanimously.

Budget Report
Joanne DiCamillo reported as of 11/18/10, the balance in the General Fund (Tree Commission and Public Works) was $22,939.00.

OLD BUSINESS

Inventory Update – Chairman’s Letter
Mrs. DiCamillo will make one last attempt to contact the Dudda’s regarding the tree inventory.~ She will mail them a contract listing the exact work to be done including the costs and prices for the tree inventory. She will send the contract on 11/19/10. The Chairman and Tree Commission will wait to hear from the Dudda’s.

Old Lyme Town Hall –
Gerry Foster made a motion to remove the Norway maple at the front of Town Hall and to remove the white birch at the back of Town Hall.~ Joan Flynn seconded the motion which passed unanimously. The Norway maple is especially hazardous to pedestrian and vehicular traffic that pass under the tree.~ The white birch in the back of the Town Hall is also a hazard to traffic passing under the tree.~
At the front of Town Hall, the Japanese maple’s mulch is way too deep and some mulch needs to be removed until there is proper mulching depth.

Meeting House Lane-
A maple tree at 10 Meetinghouse Lane has been reported as a hazard.~ A large leader branch had fallen on the power lines. The tree Warden, Tom Degnan, has marked it for removal.~ There is some question on whose property the tree is on and it is being investigated.

NEW BUSINESS

Joanne DiCamillo, Pat Moll, Gerry Foster and Joan Flynn term’s are all up for reappointment.~ They will need to fill out the proper form and send it to the Town Hall.~

Pat Moll has announced her resignation from the Tree Commission.~

Many trees along the entrance to the Regional District 18’s High School have been removed.~ Tree Warden, Tom Degnan and John Rhodes had marked them for removal.



The next Tree Commission meeting will be held, Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Old Lyme Town Hall.

Anne Bing made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:55 PM, seconded by Joan Flynn which was unanimously approved.
