REPORTS
Clerk’s Report
The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and accepted.

Treasurer’s Report
Joanne DiCamillo reported that the balance as of 5-31-07 is $4,525.71. She reported that John Roach had spent $2,865 more than his budget which will be deducted from the Tree Commission’s budget.  A bill for $3,000 was paid to Tennant on June 4, 2007. One outstanding bill to Jason Wilcox for $400 for work on a red maple at Ferry Rd. will be deducted. Joanne stated that this will leave an approximate carryover of $4,000 for the Commission.

OLD BUSINESS
Town Hall Nursery Update: Pat Moll reported that the pile of dirt from the excavation has added more work to the watering than originally planned. Emily Griswold added another hose to reduce the distance to carry water.  Joanne DiCamillo reported that a new plastic fencing was placed to enclose and protect the plants in the nursery. A dogwood on the south side was lost during the construction work but an additional azalea was dug up and added to the nursery.
Watering schedule is as follows:
July 1-15: Adela Wilmerding
July 16-25: Joan Flynn
August 1-15: Emily Griswold
August 16-31: Anne Bing
September 1-15: Gerry Foster

NEW BUSINESS
7 Beckwith Lane: At a request from resident John Secla, Joanne DiCamillo requested Jason Wilcox to do light trimming on a Norway maple near pole #108 on 7 Beckwith Lane.  Any other trimming will be done by CL & P if they will do the work. Steve Child forwarded the request to the new representative to look at the tree.

Mile Creek Rd: At a request from resident Mrs. VanPatten on Mile Creek Rd., Tom Degnan evaluated the trees that the resident considered a problem.  While he did not view those trees as a concern, he found others that were on the right of way that could be problematic. The resident has notified Town Hall regarding her displeasure with Mr. Degnan’s response and has requested that another authority evaluate the trees.

Letter from Old Lyme Conservation Commission: Joanne DiCamillo read a letter from the OL Conservation Commission requesting input for their 2010 questionnaire regarding future conservation and development in the town especially as it relates to quality of life.  The questionnaire would be sent to Town residents.  Deadline for questions is August 1, 2007.  Anne Bing suggested questions pertaining to hiking trails that would last greater than one hour. Pat Moll suggested questions relating to bicycle/walking lanes. Joanne asked members to continue to think about questions and discussion will continue at the July meeting.

OTHER BUSINESS
Workshop: Joanne DiCamillo reviewed a Tree Workshop on Trees and Tree Care that she, Joan Flynn and Gerry Foster plan to attend on June 26.

Letter from Nick Vallas, The Care of Trees: Joanne DiCamillo read a letter from Nick Vallas regarding the Dutch Tree Process. He indicated that the treatment that is currently being used is not as effective as his. Joanne stated that the members will need to discuss this further at future meetings.

Old Lyme Tymes: Joanne DiCamillo noted Emily Griswold’s wonderful article printed in the latest edition of the Town’s magazine.
