REPORTS
Clerk’s Report – The minutes of the 9/20/12 meeting were reviewed.
MOTION: Gerry Foster moved, seconded by Anne Bing, to accept the September minutes as presented. All present voted in favor. Motion carried.
BUDGET REPORT
Balance
Mrs. DiCamillo reported that as of 10/4/2012, the balance in the General Fund (Tree Commission and Public Works) was $11,560. There was $6,800 left in contracted services. $1,600 was paid to Iselin Tree Experts for tree removal and stump grinding on Library Lane.
NEW BUSINESS
2013-2014 Tree Commission Budget Request
Mrs. DiCamillo is preparing the budget for FY2013/2014. The budget was discussed and the members agreed to request $17,000. It is difficult to determine an exact figure for Contracted Services since we can’t predict the number of storms that may cause damage to the trees. Tree planting was postponed this year due to limited funds.
OLD BUSINESS
Lymes’ Senior Center –tree trimming and removals
Mrs. DiCamillo met with Selectwoman Reemsnyder onsite to discuss the plan for trimming and removals.
Ms. Reemsnyder will review the plan with the Senior Center Board before a decision is made.
Tree Warden, Tom Degnan, will not approve a new planting plan unless a maintenance plan is submitted with it. He also wants a licensed arborist to trim the trees.
Care of Trees – invoice
Mrs. DiCamillo spoke again with The Care of Trees main office and requested an adjusted invoice. She received a call from the local office apologizing for the problem and stating that they would mail a new invoice immediately.
Lyme St. firehouse – screening of new transformer onsite
A screening of three Ilex “densa” and three Ilex “shamrock” have been planted near the transformer.
North Green - tree removals
At Mrs. DiCamillo’s request, two dead larches growing near the power lines were removed by CL&P, at no cost to the town. Public Works arranged for the stump grinding. A declining white fir will be removed by Iselin Tree Service.
MEMBERS’ REPORTS – none
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
The Norway maple growing near the Town Hall meeting room was removed in the spring. Members are asked to look at the area and decide if a new tree should be planted.
REMINDER - Next Meeting
Next scheduled meeting is on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 4 P.M. at the Town Hall.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion: Anne Bing moved, seconded by Joan Flynn, to adjourn the meeting at 4:50 P.M. Motion unanimously approved.
Respectfully Submitted,
Martha Hansen
