Discuss treatment for elm trees: Dutch Elm Disease prevention

There was a discussion of the different types of treatments available at the April 16 regular monthly meeting. The Tree Warden volunteered to research each of them and found that Dutch Trig is the least invasive, less harmful to the environment and is 99% effective in preventing the disease.
After discussion, a motion was made by Anne Bing  to have Care of Trees inoculate six elm trees in town using the Dutch Trig treatment. The motion was seconded by Emily Griswold. The motion was approved unanimously.

The American elm behind Town Hall was not included in the quote from Care of Trees. It was damaged considerably during construction last year and its roots were cut back to install a swale. Care of Trees suggested a root inhibitor treatment in addition to Dutch Trig.
A motion was made by Gerry Foster to have Care of Trees treat the American elm with Dutch Trig and root inhibitor at a reasonable cost,  to be determined by the Chairman. The motion was seconded by Adela Wilmerding and approved unanimously.

A motion was made by Anne Bing to adjourn the meeting at 4:25 PM.
It was seconded was by Adela Wilmerding with unanimous approval.

Respectfully submitted,
Joanne DiCamillo,
Chairman
