Lymes’ Senior Center Board of Directors Meeting

CALL TO ORDER: Jeri Baker at 1:00
MINUTES OF DECEMBER 18, 2018 MEETING: A motion to accept December, 2018 minutes with correction was called for by Diana Seckla. Kathy Lockwood seconded. Unanimous approval.
Correction to the minutes: COMMUNICATIONS: Name spelling should be Peg Sheehan.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Doris Hungerford - Treasurer’s Report for December 10, 2018- January 18, 2019 was tabled to be corrected in the February meeting.
COMMUNICATIONS: Jeri Baker - Joni Bonvicin sent a thank you note for the flowers. Jeri read a note from Toys for Tots thanking the center for putting out the collection box at the center and for the generous contributions.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Director’s Notes: Stephanie Lyon-Gould - December visitor total - 2163. 2018 Visitor totals (January-December) 25,104 visits.
Stephanie expressed her appreciation to the board for the Holiday card and gift.
Building Use: Gary Weed - The three doors which needed to be replaced should be in by the end of February.

February 20th 1:00 Adventures in Liking my Looks - Normal Must Be so Boring.
New Programs - Starting February 12th 9:15 am - 6 week session - Ballet Stretch at the Barre for Seniors.
April 29-May 3rd - Bring a Friend to Lunch Week, Members that bring one or more friend(s) (that have not eaten lunch at the center before - or in a long while) - are half price, and all first time friend lunch visitors are free.
Additional Events held by our members and for our members -
The Monday/Tuesday art class work will continue to show their work at town hall. The Friday workshop will be displaying there as well through March and April. An opening reception of the joint show to be scheduled for the first week of March.
Volunteer Luncheon - Will be scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
Memorial Brick Addition Ceremony - Will be scheduled for Wednesday, June 12th 1:00.
OLD BUSINESS:
Policy Committee Update - second reading: Jeri Baker - Motion to accept the Policy Updates as corrected was put forth by Gary Weed. Seconded by Diana Seckla. Unanimous approval.
Memorial Garden Update - list pending: Jeri Baker - Sue Campbell is still working on the list. Sue will forward names to Stephanie who will keep a master list.
NEW BUSINESS:
Report - January 11, 2019 First Meeting for Renovation Planning: Committee of Jeri, Stephanie, Gary, Don and Lou met and decided they need to come a plan of RSQ request for qualification of needs and budget. The next meeting has not yet been scheduled.
February 26th Board of Finance Meeting: Stephanie will be presenting on behalf of the Senior Center.
Opening for Old Lyme Board Member: Diana Seckla recommended Jackie Roberts, an active volunteer at the center, be invited to the February board meeting as a prospective new board member.
Volunteer Luncheon: Scheduled for May 8, 2019
Other New Business: Sue Campbell - Flatware is missing from the kitchen. Joni Bonvicin volunteered to make an assessment of need of flatware replacement. It was decided to have a lock installed on the two designated flatware drawers - and have them locked during rentals of the center.
