Lake Patrol
Mike S. - Been busy for nine straight weekends, primary issue being jet ski infractions. The police have been called on four occasions. Trooper Ingles the resident Old Lyme trooper is our main contact. The system of calling in the infractions to the trooper seems to be working
Weeds
Report of Effectiveness of herbicide application
Dick spoke of a report of effectiveness of the herbicide application that the RLA had received. The report was dated three weeks after application and spoke of the effectiveness and expectation of the weeds dying and decaying. Dick spoke of some re-growth that has been recently spotted. He mentioned that he would like to have the company back to re inspect the lake with members of the RLA to show us the area of treatment. The treatment should be working for 90 days.
A resident expressed concern over an email from Tom B. to the First Selectmans' offices referencing dissatisfaction with the level of containment of the weeds and proposing ideas of revisiting harvesting and purchasing more mats for next year.
Dennis proposed that an email be sent to the First Selectmans' offices to let them know that the majority of the RLA board feels that the herbicide treatment of the lake helped to reduce the weed growth. In fact, that without it there would have been great difficulty getting from one side of the lake to the other in the late summer. Dennis mentioned that this email should include that the majority of the board members would like to see the herbicide treatment implemented again next year. Dennis offered to draft a letter to bring to the next RLA meeting in order to share their opinions with the first selectmen. Anyone in agreement may sign the email.
Hains Park -Will be breaking ground on new construction in August.
Budget - The budget for the Rogers Lake authority for 2016-2017 appears to contain funding for a herbicide treatment for spring 2016 as indicated by an excess amount in the budget consistent with the cost of herbicide treatment.
Old Business – July 23rd RLA sponsored its first CPR course and it went very well. It was held at the Lymes' Youth Service Bureau. There is hope that this can be done in again in the future.
New Business

The meeting ended at 8:30pm
Respectfully submitted,
Elizabeth Sunshine
