ROGERS LAKE AUTHORITY
~MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JANUARY 8, 2014
A meeting of the Rogers Lake Authority (RLA) was convened at the Rogers Lake Clubhouse at 7:30 pm on January 8, 2013.~ The following members were present: Richard Smith, Tom Baehr, Dennis Overfield, Mike Secord and Robert Recor. Liz Sunshine, Secretary, and two attendee were also present.
The meeting was called to order at approx 7:31 pm. The minutes from the December meeting were not read but were accepted as written. A motion was made by Robert Recor to approve the minutes from the December meeting. It was seconded by Dennis Overfield and approved by unanimous vote.
Police Patrol Boat:
Mike reported that the boat is barely working at this point and quickly becoming unsafe to operate.~ Mike will schedule a meeting to talk with the board of finance regarding the need for a replacement boat. This boat is used by the authority for lake monitoring rescue and as a chase boat by the crew teams.
Mike recommended that the authority offer a first aid and CPR class for anyone in the lake community, lake monitors, those in the chase boat and crew volunteers.
He made a motion that the authority~ approve the purchase of a new boat to be added to the budget. Robert 2nd the motion the vote was 4 for and 1 against.
There was a discussion about the RFQ in the paper of an invitation to bid out to engineering companies regarding the engineering project. It was mentioned that there is a meeting at the town hall on the RFQ next Wednesday.
Budget:
The budget has been submitted to the board of finance for both towns
Weed Control:
There was discussion about Mousup Pond and their struggle with milfoyal fan wart and Southern Nyad.~ Mike will be receiving a report from their association president regarding their use and results with navigate
The benthic mats are still in for the testing of the home made vs store bought~ Dick will report the results in the spring
Tom discussed oxygen levels in the lake and the algae increase over the summer and ways to a irate the lake~

New Business:
Tom spoke about working with the town sanitarian and Sonja Marino, RS on developing a plan and creating a letter to require affected residents to address shallow well issues by deepening their wells by a given date such as~ 2020.
