A meeting of the Rogers Lake Authority (RLA) was convened at the Rogers Lake Clubhouse at 7:30 PM on April 12th. The following members were present: Dennis Overfield, Richard Smith, Robert Recor, and Rob Roach. Three local attendees were also present. The minutes were typed by Nicole Krol.
The meeting of the Rogers Lake Authority was called to order at 7:33pm by Dennis Overfield.
A motion to approve the minutes from March was made by Dick, Rob second. The vote was unanimously approved.
Lake Patrol
Dick has staff lined up for the boat/launch patrol, they will work on a rotating schedule. Discussion took place on how the hours should be structured.
Weeds Budget
Old Business
Dennis has not set a date to meet with the town to discuss the application of weed treatment. The treatment will take place in the spring although the exact date is not yet known. The RLA board still plans on being present to observe the application of the treatment.
Dennis did check on the registration for the RLA boat and found the boat may not need to be registered because it is part of a municipality. Dennis will check with the town to see if the trailer and boat to in fact need to be registered.
The board will look into getting the boat ready for the season, the bottom of the boat may need to be painted.
Rob Recor gave an overview of the safe boating course.  The instructor was fantastic, there was a small turnout and a donation of $94 was given to the RLWSA for the use of the clubhouse.
The CPR course is going to be held on May 13, 2017.  It will be held at the Rogers Lake Clubhouse from 9am-noon, the cost is $40.
The RLA website has been updated with current members listed.
New Business
Dick found an additional dock for the RLA boat if needed.
RLA would like to put up cautionary buoys for the sand bars within the lake. Dick is storing donated buoys in case they are needed for the season.
The rowers have started their season, there are different colleges who utilize the lake for rowing. The Connecticut Federation of Lakes (CFL) conference is April 29th.
The board received a letter from the Conservation Committee asking for a watershed study test to be done before more treatment is applied to the lake.  Dennis will draft a response letter for the board to review at the next meeting.
Dennis will see if the Conservation Committee would be interested in sponsoring a soil testing for the

spring of 2018 for homeowners on and near the lake. It may be a great way to bring awareness to the Roger’s lake communities.
Motion to adjourn was made by Dick and Rob second, motion passed by unanimous vote. The meeting ended at 8:38 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Nicole Krol, Secretary for RLA, Nicole-krol@att.net
