ROGERS LAKE AUTHORITY
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF May 8, 2019
A meeting of the Rogers Lake Authority (RLA) was convened at the Rogers Lake Clubhouse at 7:30 PM on May 8th. The following members were present: Dennis Overfield, Mark Hastings, Robert Recor, Jenell Janes, Toni Phillips and Dick Smith. Eleven local attendees were also present. The minutes were typed by Nicole Krol.
The meeting of the Rogers Lake Authority was called to order at 7:30 pm by Dennis Overfield.
The minutes from April were read aloud, Mark made a motion to accept the minutes with the correct spelling of Jenell’s name and correction, personal watercraft needs to stay 200ft from shore and objects, motor boats 100ft, Toni second, the motion passed unanimously.
Lake Patrol
- Dick has patrol boat and launch attendees ready for the season. The boat will be in the water next week.

Old Business
- RLA 2019/20 budget is still in good order. The Lyme budget meeting for the next year is next Thursday.
- Dennis has provided a list of boat items and Dick purchased: a first aid kit, lock for trailer, radio and antenna, and tires for trailer. An attendee would like to know if there will be a specific channel to which the RLA monitors for communication, the RLA will research the proper use of channels for communication.
- Dick suggested a mailing with a pamphlet to inform residents of lake rules and updates. Jenell will make a flyer or brochure for the mailing.
- Jenell has received approval from the town and state for placing the monofilament recycling receptacles. Supplies will be purchased, and the receptacles will be built and placed. Jenell has all approvals documented. (See appendix I attached)
- Lake Signage applications have not been completed yet.
New Business
- The alewives have been active, 300 have come back via the fish ladder, Yale test DNA to find out if they the returning alewives were part of their study.
- A canoe and dock were found floating in the lake, contact Dennis Overfield at 203-520-8980, to reclaim these items
- Fishing tournaments: 5/14, 15 boats; 5/18, 10 boats; and 5/25, 8 boats.
- Toni mentioned the lake water is high, explanation: when the fish ladder is in use, the dam needs to be closed by state regulation.
- An attendee mentioned for the first time in 20yrs there is algae growing on the rocks in the water in front of his property. An attendee asked about alewives, Dennis gave a brief explanation. An attendee asked if the crew chase boats need to follow the rules of the lake, the board let her know they should and there will not be as much evening rowing activity this summer. Concern was expressed taxpayers who would like to use the lake feel crowed by crew activity. The board let those concerned know it is important to let the rowing association know of rowing issues.
- The next RLA will meet on the third Wednesday of June, the 19th, 7:30pm at the Rogers Lake Clubhouse.
A motion to adjourn was made by Dick, Jenell second, motion passed by unanimous vote. The meeting ended at 8:19 PM.

My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I just spoke to Don Bugbee, and he is agreeable to putting a fishing line recycling collector at Hains Park. I am copying Don on this email for your information. He suggested that the closer to the lake and/or docks, the better. Please continue to communicate with him on the location, and thank you again for taking on this initiative. We both appreciate your thoughtfulness.
