REGULAR MEETING
OLD LYME PLANNING COMMISSION
DECEMBER 13, 2018
PRESENT WERE: Harold Thompson, Robert McCarthy, Steven Ross, Todd Machnik and Don Willis.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The commission began the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.
ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION IN 2019
- Revisions to the Plan Of Development - Thompson stated during the last revision of the Plan of Conservation and Development the commission held several workshops throughout the year. He asked commission member to consider if they would like to perform review of the document as an extension of the normal meetings or if they would feel better about scheduling workshops?
Don Willis will be seated for Steven Ross for the remainder of the meeting.
- Rescheduling the presentation by GZA Environmental to the various boards and commission to discuss what the impacts would be to the Town of Old Lyme with a 100 year to 500 year storm.
- Economic Development for Old Lyme
John Curtis presented a proposal prepared for the Town of Old Lyme by the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Inc. dated October 2018. The proposal would examine available options and provide recommendations for economic development in Old Lyme. The commission received the document at the meeting and a general discussion took place. The commission decided to table any action until the January 2019 meeting. This would allow the commission time to review the document in detail. There was also a general discussion on the Economic Development of the town. Commission members expressed concern about spending funds onstudies.
MINUTES OF NOVEMBER MEETING
Steven Ross made a motion to waive the reading and approve the November meeting minutes as submitted. Don Willis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Todd Machnik made a motion to nominate Harold Thompson as Chairman and Steven Ross as Vice Chairman. Don Willis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
