May 3, 2012
Members: Glynn McAraw, Chairman; Missy Garvin, Roger Zito, John Flower,
Donald Bugbee, Director
Absent: Robert Dunn, Timothy Gavin, Mary Ellen Garbarino
Meeting started at 7:32 pm.
Minutes of the April 5, 2012 meeting unanimously accepted with the following change
Timothy Gavin was in attendance. Jamie Child was in attendance as a guest.
Missy Garvin made the motion to accept, John Flower seconded.
Programs: Don Bugbee reported status quo with the programs.
The recent Salary Compensation Classification Plan was completed by Randi Frank’s company. The company was hired to do a wage survey of all non-union employees.
The survey showed that the P&R Director’s wage was below the minimum on the compensation schedule. Even with a BOF recommended 2% wage increase to the current wage, it would still leave the P & R Director’s wage below the minimum. The Director is not happy. After discussion, it was suggested that a meeting with Selectman Reemsnyder should be set up.
Don also explained the new on-street parking set-up at Sound View this summer. There will be a fee to park. It was recommended that this could be handled by Park and Rec.
since they already collect fees at the Town owned parking lot. As someone said ‘they have a good track record of handling money.” Don feels the process, as explained to him, of people after they park having to walk to pay and then walk back to their car to put a tag in/on the window won’t work. So the police bicycle summer employees will be handling this and probably bring the money to Don. More to come!!!
Town Woods Field Maintenance:
Don and Glynn, remaining members of the Town Woods Committee met with Selectman Reemsnyder. They believe that the committee is not longer necessary as the Selectmen have been making the decisions, not the committee. Bonnie has received the soil sample results and estimates as suggested by Dr. Silver. She gave them an update of what is going on, and she is waiting for additional information. She will proceed with a new plan and Ron Tyler has agreed to apply the materials.
John Flower commented “it appears the Selectman’s office has basically taken over the maintenance of Town Woods Park.”
Meeting closed at 8:16 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Doris Johnson, Secretary
