Don’s Report: Park and Rec at the Middle School.~ Runs for six weeks, through August 5th. ~There are a little over 200 kids enrolled in the camp with a staff of 26.~ Baseball camp was completed last week which had 2 sessions with 36 kids enrolled.~ Basketball camp was completed for grades k-4. 2 more basketball camps will take place this summer; last week of July for grades 3 through 7 boys and 1st week of august for grades 4 through 8 girls. ~The first session of tennis camp had forty kids enrolled and there will be another session later on this summer in which registration is still open.~ There is a soccer camp at town Woods Park that runs from August 15-19, registration is still open.~ Rowing program is in full swing, which takes place in the morning and the evening at Haines Park.~ Income from the rowing program is $22,000 to date.~
~
Beaches are in full swing.~ Sound View and White Sand Beach are very crowded.~ Sound View has taken in $44070 to date which is on par with the past few years, which have been record years in terms of income.~ Selectmen have allowed Don to adjust the parking rate this year.~ $30 has not been charged a lot, simply because people refuse to pay it, and they go to another lot.~ On very crowded days, $20 is charged until lot is full, and then once people start leaving; $30 is charged when people have no other option.~ People are getting cheaper rates in other parking lots.~ During the week, $20 is charged and $10 in the afternoon.~ By dropping to $10 we get 10-15 more cars that refuse to pay $20.~~
~
Lifeguards are in short supply this year.~ Three previous employees backed out due to personal reasons. Don since hired two new lifeguards. The rest of the staff is in good shape.~ ~~

~
Lyme Park and Rec held soccer camp at Town Woods Park and didn’t notify or provide insurance.~ They have done this in years past. We need to take steps to change this situation. Don has spoken to Jason Thorton, the Lyme director.~ Going forward we need to address this situation in writing. If they do not notify and provide insurance, they cannot have camp there.~

Facility
TW building trim painting has been completed.~
Haines park building painted and soffits replaced.~ Plans to take down at least one big pine tree.~ Causes rot and damage to roof.~ The trees are filled with ants.~
Public works has yet to fix beach, still waiting for York Rake. Public works has done some of the stuff on Dons list, but there is still stuff that they have not done, including Haines Park Beach.~
~
~
White sands beach building is about to be painted.~
~
Cross lane has still not provided any boundary fences for the Briscoe Family. ~They requested it in early spring when public works trimmed in excess the trees that provided privacy from the cross lanes basketball court.~ ~The Briscoe’s then emailed Don and requested that through planting or fence, their privacy be restored.~ Don forwarded email to Tim Griswold and selectmen.~ Don has discussed this with Tim and public works and nothing has moved forward.~ Don was going to refresh some emails with public works to try to speed up the process.~ In Don’s opinion, public works went in and changed the buffer of the Briscoe’s privacy by trimming the trees in excess.~ The commission is in agreement that public works needs to do something.
~

Glynn asked if someone has stepped in to relieve some hours for Don.~ Don stated that no one has talked to him about that at all; therefore, no one has taken over to help.~ Glynn and Bob have met with Tim and Tim has met with board of finance, but no one has spoken to Don.~ Proposal has been put out by Park and Rec but nothing has been done.~ Newspaper article was written, it had inaccuracies and no one addressed that with Don. ~Glynn was under the impression after talking to Tim that things were moving along. ~Roger suggested that Tim or one of the selectman come to one of our meetings.~ Glynn will get back on this with Tim Griswold.
~
Maryellen Garbarino made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by Missy Colburn.~ Meeting adjourned at 8:30
