UNAPPROVED MINUTES
Park and Rec Commission
February 5, 2009
Members: Glynn McAraw, Chrmn. Donald Bugbee, Director, Robert Dunn, John Flower, William Crandall, Roger Zito. Absent: Missy Colburn, Mary Ellen Garbarino.
Meeting started at 7:35 pm.
Minutes of the November 6, 2008 meeting unanimously approved as written.
December, 2008 and January 2009 meetings cancelled.
Programs:
Youth Basketball in week 4 of 8. Will end Mar 7. Saturday morning 8am. – 1 pm.
Adult Basketball – ongoing……..Wednesday evenings.
Yoga…..ongoing…in Session 3 which ends Mar 3. Session 4 starts following week and will end May 20.
Summer Staff…..accepting applications….have already received quite a few from returnees.
MLS – confirmed for August 24th – 29th at Town Woods Park.
Tennis – 2 more sessions – 1 in July and 1 in August.
Basketball and Baseball to be confirmed.
Day Camp – tentatively starting June 22…dependent on school snow days.
Rowing…..to be determined by OLRA
Budget: Don and Tim Griswold met and reviewed 2009 -10 budget request…..to go before the Board of Finance Feb 10th.
Safety Committee: Don is on committee. Scheduled to meet with Jeff Rogers (CIRMA)
to discuss liabilities with water front safety/lifeguards.
Beach committee(SV): Don is on committee. They are in discussions about self contained bathrooms at Sound View. No action had been taken.
Cross Ln.: Met with tree committee chairman discussed removal of tree(s) and brush at the park. PW will do brush removal.
Little League: Briefly discussed the need for repairs at the Little League area at Cross Lane. It was thought that possibly the Town would pay for the materials with the work being done by LL volunteers. There has been no communication from LL nor have they
presented a plan to the commission. Since there was no one from LL at the meeting is was decided to tabled the matter until the next meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm. Next meeting March 7, 2009 at Town Hall at 7:30 pm
