Meeting Minutes
Thursday May 1, 2014

1) Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by R. Dunn.
2) Approval of the April 3, 2014 Minutes
The April 3, 2014 Minutes were not available for review and approval.
Minutes will be provided at the June 5, 2014 Meeting.
3) Program Updates
D. Bugbee provided an update of the current and upcoming Parks and Recreation Programs. All information is detailed on the Parks and Recreation Website under Spring/Summer Programs. Programs include Spring Tennis, Summer Daycamp, Baseball Camp, Basketball Camp, Tennis Camp and Soccer Camp. Sign-ups for these Programs are on-going.
4) Park Facilities Update
D. Bugbee provided the following Facilities Updates:
He would not be managing the Sound View Parking Lot starting this season. He has managed the Parking Lot for the past 15 Summers. Kiosk parking has been installed and the overall operation of the Lot will be managed by the Old Lyme Police Dept.
The White Sand Beach and Hains Park Bathrooms are scheduled for repainting this Spring. The Parking Lot at White Sand Beach has been re-striped and the water is scheduled to be on by mid-May. The water is on at Hains Park, Cross Lane Park and Town Woods Park. Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse and Rowing activity is currently in full swing at all of the Parks.
The Tennis Courts are scheduled for crack repairs in June or early July. The nets and posts will be replaced as well. The Basketball Courts are scheduled for resurfacing during the 2014/2015 Budget Year.
He attended a meeting about the proposed Rogers Lake Boathouse Project on April 24, 2014 and provided input on the items pertaining to Parks and Recreation including Parking, Bathrooms, the Basketball Court relocation, Swim Area, and Beach erosion. Updates on this Project will be provided as they come forth.
He is scheduled to meet with the Town of Old Lyme CIRMA Representative, Matt Lipp, later this month to review the Parks and Recreation swim areas and operating procedures at both Hains Park and White Sand Beach. Updates will be provided.
5 Other Old Business
The Commission continued the discussion about the “War at the Shore” Baseball Tournament, managed by Joe Zrenda. Details are listed in the April 3, 2014 Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes. No resolution has been reached at this point. Updates will be provided.
The Bids for the Town Woods Park Consultant, RFP were due on April 30, 2014. No information was yet available for this meeting. R. Dunn thanked the Commission for their review and revisions of the RFP. Updates will be provided.
6) New Business
The Commission decided to send Doris Johnson a Card and Flowers as a token of their appreciation for her service as the Commission Secretary for numerous years. She had recently resigned because of health issues.
7) There was no Public Comment at the meeting. J. Flower made a motion, seconded by M. Garvin, to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at 7:35 PM.
