A quorum was present and the meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Vice-chairman John Forbis who authorized Jeff Cooley to vote in place of Barbara Traskos.
The January minutes were discussed. Dini Mallory asked to have the roles of Cynthia Taylor (Chairman) and John Pfeiffer (Town Historian) clarified. The HDC members felt that it would be best to do this at a meeting when John Pfeiffer is present.
John Forbis made a motion, seconded by Dini Mallory, to wait until the March meeting to correct the January minutes. John Forbis, Dini Mallory, Cynthia Taylor and Jeff Cooley voted in favor, motion passed.

1. Communications: none

2. Public Open Forum: no participation

5 Bailey Road: Alexandra Escher is interested in a historic plaque for her home, ca 1820
26 Sill Lane: Caroline Ronchini has requested historical information about her home.
10 Ferry Road: The date of 1830 appears to be correct, the original builder is still being determined.
6 Lyme Street: Jeff Cooley has been in touch with the new owners, they are interested in the history of their house and would like to have a plaque.

4. Secretary’s Report:
The new Historic District Handbook is ready to print.
Membership renewals: John Forbis mentioned the new Walking Tour published by the Old Lyme Historical Society and recommended increasing the HDC’s donation to $75 to better support the organization. The members agreed.
John Forbis made a motion, seconded by Dini Mallory to renew the memberships as follows: Connecticut Trust $115, National Trust $75, and the Old Lyme Historical Society $75. All present voted in favor, motion passed.

There was a discussion about the shipping container that is being used to store construction materials and equipment behind 97 Lyme Street. It is difficult to see from Lyme Street and is beyond the HDC’s jurisdiction (300 feet from the center of Lyme Street). It can be seen by neighbors and is visible from Parson’s Farm Lane.
The ZEO will be informed and asked to make sure that it is a temporary structure.

Historic Resource Inventory Survey: no update.

The HDC has openings for three members. If you are interested please contact the Selectman’s Office.

6. Adjournment: Jeff Cooley moved, seconded by Cynthia Taylor, to adjourn the meeting at 9:37 am. John Forbis, Cynthia Taylor, and Dini Mallory voted in favor, motion passed.

Respectfully submitted,
Martha Hansen, Secretary
