SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
September 13, 2018

Committee members in attendance: Mike Reiter, BJ Bernblum, Lindsay Eisensmith, Edie Twining, Sabrina Foulke, Ray Thompson, Bonnie Reemsnyder, ex officio
Yale Urban Design Workshop (YUDW) Guests: Alan Plattus, Andrei Harwell and Jincy Kunnatharayil
1. Call to order. – 7:07PM
2. Rescheduled YUDW presentation and discussion.
YUDW gave a Power-Point presentation that included difference area design concepts. Comments from the YUDW presentation:
-Due to geographic limitations, area will always be somewhat isolated. This elevates the need to signal to people upon entering the area that they are somewhere special and should plan to stay for a while.
-Concept is for people to park once and stay for a while, while visiting multiple shops.
-Ideally retail establishments would be street-side and parking behind.
-Public spaces and a neighborhood feeling should be pursued.
-Committee reviewed multiple sketches from YUDW representing multiple different approaches for the development.
-Committee noted features of designs which we believe reflects town interest based on town meetings.
YUDW will take these notes and continue refining their concepts. Committee members will meet with YUDW in October to review their ideas, in anticipation of a public presentation on November 1.
