Meeting Minutes
April 21, 2014


Present:  Todd Machnik, Gary Smith, Steve Ross, Don Willis

Absent:  Ellie Czarnowski, Steve Martino, Dave Roberge (ex-officio member)

Guests:  NONE


1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM by Chairman Todd Machnik.


2.  Approval of Minutes
Approval of Minutes: Regular Meeting 27 January 2014
Steve Ross moved to accept the minutes for the Regular Meeting of 27 January 2014 and Gary Smith seconded the motion.  The minutes were accepted.
Approval of Minutes: Special Meeting 10 March 2014
Steve Ross moved to accept the minutes for the Special Meeting of 10 March 2014 and Todd Machnik seconded the motion.  The minutes were accepted.


3.  Correspondence
Todd Machnik reported that he received correspondence from Ron Bianca of the Hawk's Nest Beach Club Association stating that he and members of the Association had met with the representative from the State about applying for a Grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Flood Plain Easement Fund and it was not a good fit as everyone had hoped.  


4.  Old Business
a. Swan Brook Update – Todd Machnik
There was a discussion about why funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Flood Plain Easement Fund would not be a good fit at this time.  Members of the Board stated that they will continue to look for other options along with members of Hawk's Nest Beach Club Association and Miami Beach Club Association.
5.  New Business
Todd Machnik stated that the Old Lyme Beach Club has approached an engineer about relieving the flooding issues that occur when the salt pond located just behind their beach gets filled with water.

Steve Ross reported that the DEEP had a contractor cleaning out the ditches in the Mile Creek Marsh area.  The work has stopped for the time being as work cannot be done between April 1 and August 31 as not to disturb the wildlife.  The work will resume after September 1.

Gary Smith moved, and Don Willis seconded, to adjourn the meeting at 6:00 PM.
SO VOTED.

Our next meeting will be on Monday, 21 July 2014 at 5:30 PM, Town Hall, second floor meeting room.  Mr. Ross stated that he will not be able to attend this meeting.
