RE: Notice of Violation from the DEP. The Old Lyme public works department performs maintenance on the mouth of Mile Creek and it has again filled with silt and completely blocked. The DEP stated in their letter to Tim Griswold that the town needs a permit from the state DEP to do maintenance work on the creek. Steve Ross received a package from the DEP, which includes instructions on how to apply for a permit. He feels that we need an engineer to complete the application. Tim Griswold will pass along this package to Docko Engineering firm in Mystic. Tim stated that there is paperwork on file from previous work done on Mile Creek, and he will bring this to Docko’s attention. It was noted that Paul Capotosto from the state DEP headed up the Mile Creek restoration project, which included
the widening and deepening of the creek. We can access his permit documents as a guide.
ss stated that at our December meeting, Steve McDonnell was instructed to revise his proposal and come back with items that would be the simplest to implement. Tim Griswold mentioned that we need to know what needs to be done before we can get an RFQ.
