The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m.
Members present were Tom Sherer, Maureen Plumleigh, and George James
The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as written.
We all expressed a need for active members and will try to encourage others to join the Commission.
New business
Members agreed that an effort should be made to create a wider information network for Rogers Lake Authority activities. Several suggestions were discussed.
Maureen reported that she had submitted an article on the benefits of preserving our environment by New London Day editor Maryann Elohi
to be published in the town quarterly news letter.
Tom agreed to write a letter to the Florence Griswold Museum expressing the Commission’s wholehearted support of their ambitious plan to restore museum grounds to recreate the same kind of natural surroundings that inspired the Old Lyme artists to become world famous.
Old Business
The Commission is working on a questionnaire for the 2020 Old Lyme Plan of Conservation and Development focusing on environmental issues facing the Town. Once completed we plan to submit the questionnaire to the Planning Commission as well as other commissions and boards for their input. As was done in the past, the questionnaire is sent to all citizens of Old Lyme for their opinions on the key issues identified in the questionnaire. The results are reviewed by the Planning Commission which then assigns the various boards and commissions the actions needed to achieve the 2020 goals identified by the citizens of the town and our boards and commissions.
George will submit a rough draft of the end of year report for discussion at the next meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
George James, secretary
