Lauralyn reported on the email she received from Senator Blumenthal regarding his priority of preserving Long Island Sound. Blumenthal had a roundtable meeting with Governor Malloy and U.S. Senator Lieberman to discuss mobilizing support for the LI Sound Restoration and Stewardship Act. In addition, his email mentioned federal grants are available for environmental organizations.
Maureen sent an email to members in which she mentioned the new (2012) Act in
CT preventing the use of phosphate-based fertilizers....which is the major cause of
eutrophication of lakes. She will contact the DEEP to get more information on this.
George reported on the sewer issue as he is a member of the WPCA. He mentioned
there is new technology that may help to keep the water here in Old Lyme – it is
treated effluent (water).
Old Business
