- August Minutes and Action Items
The August minutes were accepted.
- George and David have almost completed the presentation for the Department of Finance.
- Town Events Magazine Submission
The latest Events magazine didn’t include our paragraphs on pesticides. We asked why. Cathy Frank emailed Ellie that several other articles also didn’t make it. The town is sending out an update by the end of the month, with the missing items.
David showed us where the bus barn area will be, behind the parking lot by the town dump. There will be a double-walled above-ground fuel tank. The area will be paved (imperviously), and there will be a containment area for the runoff. The fuel tank will also have a containment area. The bus barn will be an 1100 square foot building. The area will be lit and surrounded by an eight-foot security fence. The plans show 6 or 7 shielded 15’ lights. Plantings are shown both inside and outside the fence. Conservation Commission will send their usual lighting information.
- Getting the Conservation Commission more involved in Town Government
It was suggested that members try to attend Zoning, Planning, and Inland Waterways meetings, and discuss the 2010 POCD.
George told Ellie he talked with Fred Holth, who has decided that dredging is the best solution for the weed problem. It could be paid for by the sand and gravel. There’s no more word on the dam.
- Michael said that Marty Smith has gotten approval to build seven houses. He wants to form a water company. Campos has drilled eight test wells, and all were good. Smith defaulted on an option he had with Campos.
- The Kus option for an eleven acre access to the Post Road may end up in court.
- Open Space is working with the Tim Griswold on purchasing the +/-60 acres of the stump dump for open space. It would require some remedial treatment of the stump grinding area.
- Fran said three new cell towers are planned. Tim will have a public meeting to discuss the locations, although the town can’t take any action except to make recommendations. The State Siting Council makes the final decisions.
- George was universally and unofficially elected Chairman of the Conservation Commission when Ellie resigns in December.
- George and David will complete their presentation for the Department of Finance.
- Taffy will contact Linda about the buffer planting document.
- David will read and respond to the suggested change to the building height and grade regulations.
- Tom will write to the selectmen asking where the Town Hall photovoltaic cells are.
Ellie will send our usual comments about outdoor lighting to Zoning regarding the Bus Barn.
