Conservation Commission Minutes for Regular meeting July 11, 2007
The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as revised.
The Chairman reported on all the action items of the previous meeting.
Agnes O’Connor will find out the name and address of the Beach Association contact so that the beach community will be informed about the questionnaire associated with the next Plan of Conservation and Development.
Mr. James reported on the PRCD recommendations to the Zoning Commisssion. He noted that the Commission accepted the change in name from Planned Residential Cluster Development to Planned Residential Conservation Development. Attorney Branse said that he would revise the complicated formula for the number of units allowed in a PRCD. The Commission agreed that Multi Family projects should have an open space requirement like the PRCD.
The land swap proposal presented to the town by Diana Atwood- Johnson was discussed. It was agreed that the Commission should report to the Selectmen that if the Tantammaheag Road property is to remain as town property with access for canoes and kayaks, the present limit to pedestrian- access- only was unacceptable. It was reported that the new state law prohibiting the use of pesticides on school grounds to grade eight was welcome news. The selectman’s committee on pesticide use of the town’s playing fields failed to meet. Mr. James, Miss Czarnowski, and Mr. McCulloch were not informed of a scheduled meeting date for the committee.
Mr. James, as a member of the open space committee, reported on the status of the AWWA property, the negotiations with Mr. Ames, the status of Four Ponds Development, and the status of negotiations with Carl Gerr. He noted that the OLCT had bought several properties and was negotiating with another owner for a fifteen acre parcel. He also reported that the WPCA has voted to install test sites to make sure that water quality is maintained as the construction of a planned 80 new homes in the area are completed. He further reported that the DEP has embarked on a program to assist Rogers Lake homeowners with a reduction in lawn chemical use. Dave will invite Judy Prill to our next meeting.
