Call to Order Ms. Welch called the meeting to order at 5:34 pm. She welcomed attendees.

Review and Approval of Minutes A motion made by Ms. Tiezzi to approve the minutes of October , 2016, was seconded by Mr. Ledwith and was so VOTED with one abstention. |

2016-2017 Calendar Review: A motion to accept the calendar with changes was made by Mr. Paradis, seconded by Ms. Alden and was so VOTED unanimously.

Chairman’s Comments - None
Director’s Report Ms. McNeil thanked all for coming. She reported on the following:
- Governors Prevention E3 (Educate; Empower & Encourage)training and follow-up:
This training was about 4.5 hours with eleven students. Mr. Ledwith noted that he learned how to introduce drug prevention and thought it was well run and learned much. YAC – leaders of E3 broke out into sessions with YAC students.
- CP101-Courageous Parenting program: Ms. McNeil reported that there were 29 in attendance; 6 – 8 for each class. This program is looking for feedback from parents. It was noted that parents feel more comfortable in another town. Ms. McNeil asked the student representatives what they would like to see their parents learn and what they would like them to know. During this discussion, students noted that they would like their parents to trust them more with driving. It was noted that financial literacy responsibility should be taught when students get their license. One student talked about a class where they learned about budgets.
- MCSAAC awards: (Middlesex County Social Awareness) Ms. McNeil reported that the Old Saybrook Police Department won an award as well as Selectman Fortuna.
- Salem trip with YAC: Ms. McNeil reported that this was a fun bus trip for the YAC students. They had a Scavenger Hunt and discussed several ideas for a potential Spring Project. Ms. McNeil also noted that on November 10th YAC will be holding a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Masonic Hall. The Masons will donate and cook the food for this event.
- Local Prevention Council: Ms. McNeil noted that this was a part of HCHY. On November 15th at 3:30 there will be an LPC meeting at the Y&FS building.
Ms. McNeil noted that the Turkey Drive will be November 21st and 22nd. Ms. Castro noted that she would reach out to Ms. Cafferty re cooking Thanksgiving Dinner.

Old Business – Ms. McNeil reported that through the Youth & Family Services community Diaper Drive, a donation 3,200 diapers was made to SSKP! |

Other Business –– Ms. McNeil noted the following:
- “Sticker Shock” is 11/18: E3 students…sign up at next meeting.
- Jr. YAC 11/10; first meeting. 5:45 – 7:15.
- HEAT spaghetti dinner 11/10 4:00 – 6:30;
- X block is working out really well; (32 minutes)
- Ms. Graham and Samantha Steinmacher providing Open Space discussion groups at OSHS in addition to Drop-In 2x per week 11:15-1:15p.m.
- Can We Talk? Parent Series; Workshop 11/15 at 6:30 P.M.
Ms. McNeil also reported that Cardone & Daughters (auto) may host a workshop for youth drivers which will include some basic automotive skills, such as include changing tires and what to do if your maintenance lights go on.. |
