I. Roll Call:

II. Call to Order:
Vice Chair Jen Welsh called the meeting to order at 5:36 P.M. Pledge to Allegiance
III. Comments from the Public

IV. Approval of Minutes  
A motion was made by Jona Paradis and seconded by Janet Temple to accept the June 2, 2015 minutes.  
Ayes, 6; Nays 0; Abstentions, 0; Motion carried.
V. Chairman’s Comments
No comments. Vice Chair Jen welcomed everyone back.
VI. Director’s
Report
 
Director Heather McNeil introduced the new student, Philip Max Ledwith, and asked Megan and Kiki to explain the Student Reps role on this commission.  Summer Activities – there were a ton of activities this summer and all went very well.  Freshmen Retreat was held at Camp Hazen. Megan and Kiki reported on the weekend as to a different approach this year and how well it went. YAC – Megan and Kiki were asked to report on the differences that they have seen since their Freshman year.  Their first meeting this year is September 17.  Megan and Kiki also reported on their Senior Project for this year; “Shacka-thon” on green October 16.  It will start with a Pasta Dinner at the Masonic Hall.  This is a fundraiser for Homeless Youth.  Family Day is scheduled for
October 4, 2015 – no rain date.  OSYFS/HCHY had a booth at the Arts & Crafts Fair, July 25 & 26, 2015.  There are plans for a Schooner Sail for 4th 5th and 6th graders. Interns – there will be three new interns starting; and two returning this year. Community Programming – Nov. 4 & 11 at the Senior Center a free two night training with professionals for individuals, community groups, families, coaches, faith based groups and anyone who would like more education on how to recognize, provide support and give assistance to kids and adults struggling with addictions, as well as mental health issues including suicide. CAP is a program of DMHAS.  On September 15 a presentation will be given concerning Kinship & Respite programs at Saybrook Point Pavilion.
Vicki’s Videos is a program established as a tribute to Vicki Duffy to provide fun and affordable opportunities for families to spend time together for outdoor/indoor movie viewing throughout the year.
