VI. Director’s Report

Director Heather McNeil indicated that the first meeting of 2015 for YAC (Youth Action Council) will be this Thursday and that the OS Public Nursing Board approved their request for a $1500 grant supply the healthy meal at their meetings. On January 27th the Youth Action Group will have their Tip a Teen Night at the Cuckoo’s Nest from 5-8 p.m. to raise money for Positive Youth Development Programming. The set-up at the old FoodWorks store for the Stroll was a great success. A group of half-dozen kids from the High School went caroling at Apple Rehab. * There is a Train the Trainer conference for the SEARCH Survey in New Jersey on January 14 – 16 that Director Heather and Wendy Mill will be attending. * Staffing – there is a position available due to the resignation of Melinda Tyler. * Budget was presented by Director Heather with handouts for Youth & Family and Social Services. The Board of Selectmen have requested that departments keep their budget increases to a minimum. The Youth & Family budget has no capital expenditures and no increase in staffing.  The only increase in the Social Services budget is a request to move Sue Consoli from a Grade 10 to a Grade 12.  Several members asked questions about a few items, of which Director Heather answered. For the benefit of the newer students on the Commission, Chair Sam explained the budget process. A motion was made by William Burton and seconded by Jona Paradis to approve the two budgets as presented.  It passed unanimously. * The Holiday Giving Program gave to approximately 130 families with 240 kids receiving gifts.
